How Reputation Works
Your guide to the DealSouq community reputation system
What is Reputation?
Reputation is a measure of your contributions to the DealSouq community. As you share quality deals, help others, and participate in discussions, you earn reputation points that unlock new privileges and show your standing in the community.
Your reputation tier is visible to other users, helping them identify trusted contributors. Higher tiers enjoy benefits like faster content approval and increased rate limits.

Note: Deleting your own content reverses all reputation earned from that content, including submission bonuses and upvotes received.
Daily Caps
To maintain fairness and prevent manipulation, certain point sources have daily caps:
- Upvotes on deals/coupons: Maximum 50 points per day
- Upvotes on forum posts: Maximum 20 points per day
- Comments: Maximum 10 points per day
- Forum threads: Maximum 6 points per day
- Valid reports: Maximum 25 points per day
- Expired confirmations: Maximum 15 points per day
Deal and coupon approvals have no daily cap - submit as many quality contributions as you like!
Reputation Decay
If you haven't submitted any approved content for 6 consecutive months, your reputation will begin to decay at a rate of 5 points per month.
Note: Decay cannot drop you below your current tier's minimum threshold. For example, a Champion at 520 points who decays will stop at 500 points (the Champion minimum) rather than dropping to Contributor.
Any approved submission immediately resets the decay timer, so staying even minimally active protects your status.
Tier Demotion Buffer
To prevent frustrating back-and-forth tier changes when you're near a threshold, there's a 20% buffer zone before demotion occurs.

🚫Restricted Tier Recovery
Users who fall below -100 points (the minimum floor) enter the Restricted tier with limited privileges. However, there's a path back:
Redemption Program
- Submit 3 deals or coupons that pass manual admin review
- Each approved submission earns +15 points (instead of the standard +10)
- Upon completion, your reputation resets to 0 (Newcomer tier)
The redemption program is a one-time opportunity per account. Users who have been banned in the last 90 days are not eligible.
Reputation FAQ
Why can't I see my exact points?
Your exact reputation points are visible on your profile page. Other users can only see your tier badge, not your exact score.
Do I lose points for giving downvotes?
No. Giving votes (up or down) does not affect your reputation. Only receiving votes affects the content creator's reputation.
What happens if I delete my deal after getting upvotes?
All reputation earned from that deal (submission bonus + upvotes) will be reversed. This prevents gaming the system by farming points then deleting content.
Can I hide my reputation badge?
No. Reputation badges are always visible to maintain community transparency and trust.
What is auto-approval?
Contributors and above can have their submissions automatically approved without waiting for moderator review, subject to daily limits and domain trust requirements.
